Although I have been in the political and legislative arenas for almost all of my adult life, I am not going to get into politics while parents and other family members are grieving as a result of a mass-murderer in Florida. People who know me will find this statement unusual, but I don’t care one whit about politics, political parties, or left v. right. I don’t want to merely make a point, I want to make a difference. I want to change Texas law so that schools can tap into a giant reserve of experience and talent to protect our kids in school. The cost to schools will be little or nothing, so budget constraints will not be a factor.
I use Dillon XL650 presses and I don't use the powder-check add-on. I didn't get it primarily because of reports that they are not reliable with the worse failure mode being failure to sound when there is no powder in the case. I have no idea how often this occurs, but my low primer warning system has failed to sound a number of times over the years. These are electrical and the two most common failure points are corroded contacts and battery problems. Loading a round without a primer isn’t a major issue, but loading one without powder will lead to a squib. I’m not saying that people should shy away from the Dillon powder-check add-on. That’s just my decision.
Dear Fellow NRA Members:
I have been a political activist for gun-owners and the Second Amendment for 37 years. I am both proud and humbled to have been nominated by the NRA Nominating Committee for re-election to the NRA Board of Directors in 2017. The title "NRA Director" is one that should be worn with dignity and the realization that 150 million American gun-owners are depending on us to carry out our duties with diligence and dedication to preserving the protections of the Second Amendment and all that it means to freedom-loving Americans. It has been an honor to have served on the Board with dedicated board members and I respectfully request your support in my re-election effort.
